Communities

mapaPoblaciones

Three types of communities live in the vicinity of the Park:

Local and indigenous communities
People from other regions of the country make up the majority of the communities neighboring the Park, located especially in the Huallaga sector (white dots).

Indigenous communities
The Kichwa-Lamistas (orange)
The Yine o Piros (light-blue)
The Shipibo-Konibo (red)
The Kakataibo (blue-green)

Communities in isolation
A group of indigenous peoples in voluntary isolation (link) live in the southeast zone of the Park and in the neighboring areas of the Buffer Zone. Most likely they are part of or descendants from the Kakataibo tribe. A plan is being developed in order to establish an official reserve for them (dotted) and some guidelines for eventual encounters have been produced.
